About the author

kingofkungfu

Hi my name is Justyn Hughes, I have been involved or watched martial art kung fu movies most my life. I started muay thai when i was around 4-5 years old for ten years. I became a fan of kung fu flicks after watching prodigal Son in the mid 90's and that blew me away. Some of my favorite stars are: Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, Yuen Biao, lam Ching Ying, Lau Kar Leung, Ti Lung, David Chiang, Chen Kuan Tai and many more.

King Of Kung Fu (Justyn Hughes)

Favorite movie: The prodigal Son

  • thanks for this post.

Tom Yum Goong was an alright movie, the story sucked but fighting made up for the movie.
Pranna is a good director but SUCKS at directing story.
TMG2 i believe would have a crappy story but amazing fighting.

    Look at The Kick…it was a failure:/

I’m hoping The Monkey King will be great, I don’t like how he looks but prefer the Jet Li version though looks is not my concern but the action.
Lately Donnie Yen’s films have been a disappointment to me.

The One Detective, I thought Jet Li was done with Martial Arts role?
    he loves working with Dafu:P

After looking at the GrandMasters trailer, it didn’t look mind blowing, it just had too much over used slow motions.

Iceman Cometh? set in the Ming Dynasty? then I know it sucks for me already. I am not impressed by Donnie’s Ming/Xin/Zang dynasty movies, they suck. I only like The Empress and the Warrior and Hero.

Anothony Wong playing Ip Man Final Fight? Anthony was good in House of Fury but I don’t see him as a Martial Arts person.
Ip Man trade mark movie is the chain punching, can Anthony achieve that?
Ip man: Legend is Born was an amazing movie to my surprise.
therefore I wouldn’t doubt this movie

Man of Tai Chi has hope to be great. Keanu doesn’t look like a martial arts guy but the guy knows the stuff very well! I’m looking forward to the camera technology to be used in Man of Tai Chi.

The Raid was a good movie, nothing too groundbreaking. Let us hope Berandal will showcase different way/style of how Iko uses Silat. Even though Tony Jaa sticks with Muay Thai, at least he uses it in a different and unique way. But I’m looking forward to this movie, Gareth will NOT disappoint me.

The only reason why I’m looking forward to Special Identity is because it feels like SPL and Flash Point. I hope it doesn’t disappoint, with all the Vincent fiasco thing.

I haven’t heard of Only God Forgives, the guy looks like Eric from Death Grip.

Once Upon A Time in Shangai looks promising, it’s directed by Yeun Woo Ping therefore it will not disappoint!

by the way, is Bangkok Adrenaline out yet? by John Foo?

    • Thank you for your thoughts….. appreciate it. Bangkok Adrenaline i think was made in 2009 and i am sure a dvd release as happened, check the likes of amazon ect..

        • It’a already out (Bangkok Revenge), but on illegal resources…

Only fist little part The Iceman Cometh is set in the Ming Dynasty. Donnie and Wang then unfrozen and will continue their fight in present days. BTW, Wang Baoqiang trained for 6 years in Shaolin Temple.

Berandal will be released in early 2014 after various fest screenings (info from Todd Brown).

  • I am desperate for their releases. BTW..Jet Li and Jacky Wu also gear up for another awesome martial movie in this year (perhaps 2014). Also, I am so sad Yuen Biao and jackie wu have almost gone out of HK movies. It sucks legendary martial art heroes like jet li, jackie han, wu jing, bioa, donnie, sammo hung are getting old. they were real taste to HK movies.

  • Grandmasters was what I expected and I enjoyed it.
Ip Man Final FIght was so boring, i hate that short man!

Mortal Kombat was a waste of time!

Special ID was a complete piece of sh*!

Man of Tai Chi exceeded my expectation O_O
