As China steps into the 3D animation and sci-fi fantasy genre, L.O.R.D.: Legends of Ravaging Dynasties aims to make a strong impression.

Based on a novel of the same title by , the film spotlights a magical land called Odin which is separated into four counties – water, fire, wind, and earth. In each county lives a group of soul masters who protect the land with their powers from others seeking more power and domination.

L.O.R.D. is being touted as China's most ambitious film project to date. Not only will it be the country's first motion capture animation film (the entire movie is done in CGI) and first Western fantasy film, being handled mainly by Original Force with its CEO Harley Zhao personally supervising the animation. The production is also a first of its kind as it is being heralded by all-Chinese animation teams. Guo wanted to shake things up as these companies simultaneously develop characters and backgrounds.

Viewers will be surely impressed with the photorealistic qualities of each actor in their digital form, thanks to the cutting edge 3D scanning system used, bringing live action and animation in a way like never before.

Also to ensure box office success, Guo brought out the big guns by getting an all-star cast with none other than the Queen of C-Cinema, Fan Bing Bing leading the way. Joining Fan are other notable names like Lin Yun (The Mermaid), (The Mermaid), Chen Xuedong, William Chan, and Amber Kuo (of Tiny Times fame), and Roy Wang and Kevin Yan Kuan (TF Boys).

The question posted now is whether fandoms and hype will be able to buoy this movie not only in China but in international markets as well. With Guo's background and success as a writer (he is the first Chinese author to be nominated for the Hugo and the Nebula), it's all eyes on him now. In fact, Guo has signed all of China's biggest rising talents in the sci-fi genre. Authors under his publishing house have won top authorship awards – Best Novel (Nao Shu), Best Non-Fiction (Fei Dao), and Best New Author (Chen Qian).

Guo may just be that maverick to lead the way in making China a sci-fi and fantasy powerhouse, with the fantastic L.O.R.D by his side. See the epic trailer below.
