Jackie Chan On Top Form In Dragon Blade

Cast:

Adrien Brody
Lin Peng

is the most expensive Asian movie to date, starring the biggest legend in world cinema Jackie Chan and it does not disappoint. Dragon Blade is a movie which breathes a breath of fresh air, great cast, amazing sets and a story about world peace. It broke records on it's opening Chinese new year weekend and has earned US$113.36 million in China alone up to the 8th March.

Jackie plays the character of Huo An, a commander of the Silk Road Protection Squad who get caught for stealing gold coins and sent to a camp to build a city in just 15 days. His dream is for world peace and that one day his dream of having 36 nation flags, flying high will come true. Whilst there they encounter a roman army lead by Lucius (Cusack), who turn up to take over and challenges Jackie to a fight. Lucius has to take a young prince named Publius (Jozef Waite) away from home to escape his evil brother, Tiberius (Brody). Here Jackie uses a line i remember from the movie, he says “You train to kill people. We train to save people”.

The young prince is sick, so Jackie agrees to stop the fighting and let them stay there for one day, but then they have to leave. The army agree to stop the war against each other and Lucius decides to hep them build the city within the 15 day period. There are some good scenes in this time between Jackie and Cusack, as both speak about there past and have some fun and also moving scenes together. The scene where Jackie and his protection squad sing a song and people join in to the young prince roman song, i felt it was a great showcase in the movie and shown a friendship and trust growing between the east and the west.

I enjoyed the training sequences also in this movie, Jackie and his squad start of showcasing there Kung Fu and Weapon skills before the other armies join in showcasing there skills. I thought Adrien Brody did a good job as the main villain of the movie with some great scenes, which also brought some ruthlessness when facing his enemy.

There are a handful of fight scenes in Dragon Blade, Jackie showcasing his great sword skills more than hand to hand combat and also we get to see him Swipe his sword in one scene and draw blood. The movie is a good, fun and enjoyable watch, ok its not the best Jackie movie ever but it is one of his best in recent years. I felt in one part it did over drag the scene a little bit and i zoned out for a 10 minute period, but other than that, i did enjoy Dragon Blade. Dont expect big stunts and lots of Kung Fu because its not that type of movie, but all i will say is that as a Jackie Chan fan, i was happy with the overall movie. I also have to add that Jackie did well also with his acting in this movie, showing different emotions throughout even shedding tears in a few scenes.

I wont say much more about Dragon Blade, id rather you guys watch the movie than me giving all the details away. If you have yet to see the trailer, please give it a watch below.
