One of the biggest disadvantages if you live outside of the United States is you don’t necessarily have access to a number of terrific movie streaming services. Fortunately, you don’t have to count yourself completely out of luck. If you live in the US and are a fan of Asian movies, there are options available to you. There are a diverse number of movie streaming services available all over the Internet. Some of them are perfect for Asian movie fans.

M1905

m1905

The official movie site of the China Movie Channel, an agency of the Chinese Government, is M1905. The name is derived from the year of the first Chinese language movie. This streaming service is among the elite for Asian movie fans as it offers a plethora of HD movies and videos. The site is always staying on top of things, releasing new movies as quickly as they can. M1905 is also free of any copyright restrictions so it can be watched from anywhere in the world. The granddaddy of them all, though, is that this site is 100 percent free. With the amount of amazing movies that will be found on M1905, it’s hard to believe it’s free of charge. Not too many other streaming sites can make that claim.

Netflix

Netflix is one of the most popular movie streaming services in the world. What many people don’t know, though, is that Netflix content is region locked and in the US you will find many awesome Asian films not available in other markets. A little work is needed to watch Netflix US content outside of the US, but it’s entirely painless. The service required for this to happen is a Virtual Private Network (VPN). After downloading a service, connect to a server in Asia to make is appear as though you’re online there. From there, all of the best Asian movies will be available at your fingertips. On top of this, Netflix is expanding the countries they are available in, so hopefully we will see positive developments in the near future.

Iqiyi

Iqiyi

Founded by Baidu, the largest search engine in China, Iqiyi has a tremendous library of movies available. However, this online video platform offers a lot more than just movies. Full-length TV shows, animation, documentaries and music can also be found on Iqiyi. Unlike M1905, though, this service is not available to everyone in the world. Only users with a China IP address may access the site. Not all hope is lost, though, because the correct application of a VPN can cure these wounds. The exact same process to watch Netflix in Asia would be used to watch Iqiyi in China. You would just need to connect to a server in Asia.

Crunchyroll

crunchyroll

Every single hardcore anime fan needs to know about Crunchyroll. The argument can be made that anime shouldn’t fall under the same category as movies, but there are full-length movies made in the style of anime that are released in theaters! Even if anime is not your cup of tea, however, this service is still worth it. There are hundreds of Asian dramas that are available to watch, so don’t think it is strictly an anime site. Some of the content on Crunchyroll is free of charge, but there is some content that requires a monthly subscription. The only way to view the media on Crunchyroll in HD, however, is to pay for a subscription. We’ll leave it up to you to decide on whether or not to pay for a subscription.

56 Movie

56com

No work needs to be done to watch hundreds of HD Asian movies on 56 Movie. It is one of the largest Chinese video sharing websites. Years ago many thought this website was going to go down due to the fact that 56 Movie frequently violated a number of government rules for video content. However, 56 Movie only remained down for a couple of weeks and has been working to this day. Outside of great Asian movies, the domain also holds several TV series. The best part about this site, though, is that there are no IP address restrictions. This means that the website can be viewed by anybody from absolutely anywhere in the world.

Most Asian movie fans should be satisfied with all of these services. If you are having trouble finding a particular movie on one of these services, try and find it on one of the others. Chances are at least one of them will have the movie that you are looking for. If you have heard of these streaming services, have you used them? Are there any other great ones that I missed? Please leave a comment below and share your thoughts.
