Old Boy Choi Min Sik will play the role of Im Tae San, the chairman of a conglomerate who possesses wealth, honor, power, and love. However, he is at risk of losing everything since his fiancee, a famous singer, was murdered and his daughter, starring Lee Soo Kyung, is named as the suspect.
Park Shin Hye will play a assionate lawyer who helps Choi Min Shik’s character. The cast also includes Ryu Jun Yeol. His role is a newly added character but plays a key role. Other supporting actors are Lee Ha Nee, Park Hae Joon, and Jo Han Chul.
Choi Min Shik is last seen in Park Hoon Jung’s The Tiger (2015) and is currently working on the election drama Special Citizen with director Park In Jae. Park Shin Hye last appeared in the drama Brother with Jo Jung Seok, while Ryu Jun Yeol’s most recent appearance was in A Taxi Driver.
Silence is a remake of the Chinese film Silent Witness starring Aaron Kwok and Sun Honglei, which grossed a total of $29.3 million from ticket sales. The Korean remake will be directed by director Jung Ji Woo, who was in charge of drama Eun-gyo (2012) and indie movie Fourth Place (which debuted at the Busan International Film Festival last year), and produced by Yong Film.
The title wrapped up filming after four months on February 7th, 2017 at Bangkok, Thailand. Distributed by CJ Entertainment, Silence is set to release in South Korea in November.
