Anil Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor both father and daughter have been established actors in the Hindi film industry but for the first time, they are coming together in a film playing a father-daughter duo. Moreover, the title of the film “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga” (“How I Felt When I Saw That Girl”) is borrowed from the super hit song of the same name from Anil Kapoor’s film “1942 – A Love Story”. Besides the father-daughter duo, the film also stars Rajkumar Rao and Juhi Chawla in prominent roles.
Shelly Chopra Dhar presents the film as a romantic comedy with a twist. The trailer gives hints that can be caught by those who look closer. Although it is made to look like a trailer for an ordinary Bollywood rom-com, it is the first commercial lesbian romcom to be released in Indian cinema. There have been other films dealing with lesbian romance in India before but all of them were more off-beat and wasn’t marketed or expected to be crowd pullers. As the first rom-com with this subject, the film is filled with bankable actors and a complete Bollywood romance feel to it.
The film is produced by Vinod Chopra Films and Rajkumar Hirani Films in association with Fox Star Studios. It is set to release on February first, two weeks before Valentine’s day. The teaser which includes excerpts from the original song “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga” and the trailer for this film can be seen below.
