July 17: “Summertime” Q&A with Kelly Marie Tran at Angelika Carmel Mountain
Time: 7:30PM show on Saturday; Q&A will run until Sunday (18 July 2021)
Kelly Marie Tran serves as executive producer on “Summertime”, “a spoken-word poetry musical set in Los Angeles, following the intersecting stories of 27 young Angelinos over the course of a single day.” Poets Paolina Acuña-Gonzalez and Bene't Benton will answer to Sunday's 7/18 screening, following the 12:45pm show. For the former screening, San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF)'s Brian Hu will moderate the conversation at the Angelika Film Center.
July 21: Sentient.Art.Film AAPI Filmmaker Fellowship Applications Due
Applications for Sentient.Art.Film's The Line of Sight Fellowship are now open! Open to all filmmakers working with Asian American themes and in the spirit of discovery and experimentation. The Line of Sight Fellowship is conceived of as a long term yearly mentored fellowship with rotating themes that are generated from the previous year's cohort. The Fellowship's activities will encourage collision (temporal, artistic, generational) and turn these acts of colliding into conceptually, politically, and aesthetically forward-thinking yet rooted films, conversations, and possible futures.
The mentors for this Fellowship are Roddy Bogawa, Rea Tajiri, Tran T. Kim-Trang, Marlon Fuentes, Jon Moritsugu. Fellowship honorarium includes $3750 USD. The deadline is 21 July 2021, 11:59PM.
