New Streaming Service todoiF to Introduce Independent Films from Japan

TodoiF is a newly launched film streaming service that showcases the works of the emerging directors who will lead the film industry and help them to follow internationally renowned filmmakers like Shinya Tsukamoto, Hirokazu Kore-eda, and Ryusuke Hamaguchi.

The name, todoiF, is coined to indicate its belief that tomorrow depends on independent films: the corporate mission is to carefully choose independent films and recommend and introduce the new directors to as many people as possible in overseas markets, independent of international reputations, trends, or fashions. A variety of independent movies and cult films from Japan will be also introduced. Thoughtful curation will benefit audiences by selecting quality films.

TodoiF‘s first lineup includes:

Kento Shimizuʼs “,” which has been selected at 10 domestic and 20 international film festivals and won six international awards.
Kazuo Nagaiʼs “Smell, But I Love You,” which has been screened at more than 20 film festivals in Japan and abroad and won three awards.
Akihiro Takeishiʼs “,” which has been screened at the 71st Cannes International Film Festival.

It will also showcase Keiichiro Sawaʼs “” and Akira Kawachiʼs “,” both of which have recently been released in Japanese movie theaters.

These films can be rented individually or as a collection at discount rates that range from $4.00 to $22.00. The date to start streaming is the 17th of this month.

About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
