Since 2005, the Asian Film Academy has been crucial in discovering and nurturing promising Asian filmmakers. Since 2022, the programme has been relaunched as the CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy with support from CHANEL, further establishing it as the leader in Asian film education. In 2024, 613 applicants from 34 countries applied, achieving a competitive ratio of 25:1, reflecting its continued growth each year. The programme provides aspiring Asian filmmakers opportunities to expand their craft, challenge themselves, and push the boundaries of creativity.

The 2024 CHANEL X BIFF Asian Film Academy, at the forefront of nurturing future leaders of Asian cinema, will be held for 20 days from Sept 22 (Sun) to Oct 11 (Fri). The eight short films produced by the fellows will be presented to the public during the festival on Oct 10 (Thurs) at 19:00 KST at Busan Cinema Center. About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
