The Trophy Bride (Co Dau Hao Mon), Vietnam’s box office hit set on the premise of the traditional Vietnamese belief of “môn đương hộ đối” – a phrase that broadly means a marriage between a couple from similar economic conditions and social status will be long and harmonious, comes to the big screen for audiences in North America and Europe starting November 8, 2024 via specialty distributor, 3388 Films. The film will have a theatrical release in the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia, with more countries to follow.
The film is produced by Will Vu and directed by Vu Ngoc Dang, co-director of the 2021 film Bo Gia (Dad, I’m Sorry), Vietnam’s top 4 box office hit of all time and the first Vietnam-produced film to cross $1M at the US box office.
Producer Will Vu shares, “the biggest challenge in making this film was inviting so many talented and famous [Vietnamese] actors to be a part of the cast.”
The Trophy Bride (Co Dau Hao Mon) boasts a powerhouse ensemble cast that includes actress Uyen An, who has appeared in 2 of the 3 top box office hits of all time in Vietnam, and actor Kieu Minh Tuan, a 2-time Best Actor winner of the Golden Kite Award (Vietnam’s equivalent of the Oscars). The cast is rounded out by Thu Trang, Le Giang, Samuel An, and the People’s Artist of Vietnam, Hong Van. The People’s Artist of Vietnam is the country’s top artistic award for a living artist.
The Trophy Bride (Co Dau Hao Mon) follows the story of a downtrodden family, who in a desperate bid for fortune, risks it all as high-society fraudsters in a daring scheme to make their sole daughter the trophy bride of an elite family.
