JAFF MARKET 2024: Indonesia’s Largest Film Market Officially Closes with Numerous Achievements

JAFF MARKET 2024 concludes a successful 3 day run

, the first and largest film market in Indonesia, officially concluded its event today at Jogja Expo Center. The closing ceremony featured an exciting announcement from Miles Films, revealing that their latest project, RANGGA & CINTA, will begin production with support from Barunson E&A and Imajinari, as a result of the network at JAFF MARKET. The event opened with performances by SMKN 2 Kasihan Bantul and SMM Yogyakarta, who sang two theme songs from ADA APA DENGAN CINTA?.

Over its three-day run, JAFF MARKET 2024 attracted 6,723 attendees from 18 different countries, offering them a firsthand experience of Indonesia’s vibrant film market atmosphere. The event also recorded remarkable achievements, including: 151 booths set up, 1,767 meetings conducted, 61 MOUs signed, attendance of 164 journalists from various countries, distribution of 1,054 market badges. These accomplishments not only highlight a milestone for Indonesia’s film industry but also mark a significant achievement for the country on the international stage.

Another highlight was the JAFF Future Project (JFP) program, which received 74 submissions, with 10 projects selected: seven from Indonesia, one from Malaysia, and two from Australia. JFP facilitated 243 meetings and presented four awards: the Kongchak Award, the White Light Post-Production Award, and two BSM Awards. Meanwhile, the JAFF Content Market program received 43 applicants, with 10 selected projects generating a total of 144 meetings. Certificates for IP holders were presented at the JAFF MARKET Stage. In addition to the certificate presentation for JAFF Content Market participants, certificates were also awarded to participants of JAFF Future Project, JAFF Talent Day, and France Lab.

The Closing Ceremony of JAFF MARKET 2024 concluded with the announcement of awards for the JAFF Future Project, which were presented to:

  • Kongchak Award: The Silent Village (AMAN/DAMAI), directed by Ho Yuhang, produced by
    Lorna Tee.
  • White Light Post-Production Award: Pangku, directed by Reza Rahadian, produced by Arya
    Ibrahim & Gita Fara.
  • BSM Awards: The Silent Village (AMAN/DAMAI), directed by Ho Yuhang, produced by Lorna
    Tee.
  • BSM Awards: Until Death (Sampai Mati) directed by Ben Golotta, produced by Morgan
    Wright & Ben Gollotta.

Beyond the impressive numbers, another highlight of the event was the successful agreements and collaborations initiated on the JAFF MARKET Stage. The Indonesian Ministry of Culture announced a partnership with the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the field of audiovisual co-production. This collaboration opens up opportunities for filmmakers from both countries to receive funding from their respective governments. The agreement was signed by Barbera Wolfensberger, Director General for Culture and Media at the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science, and Giring Ganesha, Deputy Minister of Culture of Indonesia. Additionally, MAGMA Entertainment established a collaboration with Komet Productions from Malaysia and Caravan Studio.

“During the three days of JAFF MARKET, the high enthusiasm of film industry players in Indonesia was evident, as reflected in the number of meetings recorded throughout the event.
