The High School Jury of the 31st International Festival of Asian Cinemas in Vesoul met at the CDI of the Lycée Belin under the direction of Ms. Anne Petit, documentalist, coordinator of the High School Jury, Ms. Maeva Hurleau, head of mission for National Education, Ms. Martine Thérouanne, Director, co-founder of FICA and the three co-chairs of the High School Jury: Roméo Kaiser, 1st Student in Belin, Ange Dekeukeleire and Rebecca Martinez, Senior students in Belin.

PREPARATORY PEDAGOGICAL SESSION:
The members of the High School Jury trained themselves to review a film, to compose a collective critique of a film, to propose a consensual criticism, to propose shared opinions on a film.

They learned to read the technical sheet of a film (title, name of the director, year of production,…), to write the synopsis of a film, to define the genre and the theme.

During this educational session, they learned to express their feelings, their emotions experienced during the screening of a film, relying on specific elements to explain their reaction to the film. How this film touched them, annoyed, surprised… not only by the plot but also by the aesthetics of the shots, camera movements, photography, sets, costumes,… or dramaturgy, acting, staging,…

They were also invited to draw up their film-portrait by asking themselves what film makes them laugh, cry or fear the most, in which they would like to live, and finally to say their favourite film.

This session was rich, lively and fruitful. It also allowed students from different classes to get to know each other better in order to better federate.

WHAT IS THE HIGH SCHOOL JURY?

1- The FICA High School Jury has been part of the Belin High School establishment project since 2007. The students of the workshops create the trophy for the high school jury, which is presented at the closing party during the announcement of the Palmarès.

3- After consultation with Anne Petit, documentary teacher of the Lycée Belin, coordinator of the Jury Lycéen, before their enthusiasm, motivation, sense of commitment, it was decided by common agreement, to accept their three nominations for the co-chair of the Lycéen 2025 jury.

4- The constitution of the High school jury of the International Festival of Asian Cinemas in Vesoul is part of the establishment project of the Lycée Belin. The latter is a partner of FICA, hence the creation of a Chinese section LVIII, created by the National Education with the support of the Musée National des Arts Asiatiques Guimet de Paris and the Inalco (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales), two partner institutions of the FICA.

5- the role of co-chairs will be to support Ms Anne Petit, teacher-documentalist, to encourage students from Belin High School to join the High School Jury.
