No matter if you like drama, comedy, thrillers or pure science, there is something for every geek out there. From classics to new additions, the following list includes 7 of the most watched geeky tv shows to get yourself entertained this summer.

The Big Bang Theory

One geeky sitcom to rule them all, “The Big Bang Theory” is amongst the most loved comedies of all time. Following the life of Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter, two scientists with genius minds, but zero social skills, as they meet and befriend their neighbor, Penny, who aims to teach them a thing or two about real life and human relationships.

Along with their friends, possible love interests and a bunch of delightful other characters, the two scientists learn that there are some things more important in life besides their work. Bonus: an incredibly large number of cameos from real-life people, such as Stephen Hawking, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Elon Musk, Carrie Fisher, Stan Lee, Bill Gates and Ellen DeGeneres.

Black Mirror

Set in a not-so-far future, this anthology series tells a different story with each episode, but the premise remains the same: how technology will affect us in the future. The series consists of one interactive movie (Bandersnatch) and 5 seasons, with a total of 22 episodes, all unrelated in terms of story and characters, but part of the same world, as you can find Easter-eggs hidden in almost every episode.

Some episodes, such as “White Bear”, “Shut Up and Dance” and “Metalhead” are real dystopian nightmares, while others such as “San Junipero” and “Hang the DJ” appeals to the more romantic fans of the series. No matter the premise, every episode of Black Mirror is a delight to watch and will surely leave you questioning: is technology doing us more harm than we can imagine?

The IT Crowd

Although the show’s final season aired in 2010, “The IT Crowd” has become a must-see cult TV series for nerds all over the world. Filled with British humor, the series follows the three members of Reynholm Industries’ IT department and their everyday struggles. While Maurice Moss and his colleague, Roy Trenneman are IT geniuses, Jen Barber, the head of the IT department knows nothing about computers.

When she meets the two “standard nerds”, as the company describes them, Jen aims to bridge the gap between them and the rest of the company, defining herself as a “relationship manager”. The TV series was critically acclaimed and received numerous awards, including a BAFTA and International Emmy award.

Doctor Who

One of the most famous TV series of all time, Doctor Who started airing in 1963 and has been on tv on and off since then. Following the adventures of “the Doctor”, a Time Lord from the planet Gallifrey wot time-travels and explores the Universe in a spaceship designed to look like a British Police Box called TARDIS.

Throughout the series, 13 actors have taken on the role of the Doctor, following the theme of incarnation and regeneration. Though each actor has brought their own take on the character, all of them depict the same character through various stages of his life. The premise for this is simple: when the body was too harmed to heal, the Doctor takes on a new one to continue his journey. Currently, Jodie Whittaker plays the role of the Doctor, but Matt Smith seems to be the public and critics’ favorite.

Silicon Valley

The series follows the life of Richard Hendricks, a computer programmer, who alongside his friends and co-workers, founds a start-up company based in Silicon Valley. The group develops a program that could revolutionize the world and go through a series of funny, yet difficult events while attempting to launch their app.

The extremely prized comedy is set to give viewers a taste of what investment companies and tech startups are really like, especially in the well-known word of Silicon Valley. Produced by HBO and set to air its sixth and final season later this year, Silicon Valley is one of the best-written sitcoms of all times and is surely set to satisfy even the pickiest of viewers.

Rick and Morty

If you haven’t watched Rick and Morty by now, you can’t seriously call yourself a real geek. Make some time between science camp and online chemistry courses and give this series a try. You will be laughing, crying and learning a bunch of life lessons from slightly deranged, but genius Rick and his innocent, yet just as smart grandson, Morty.

The series follows the duo and their family as they get involved in a bunch of affairs with parallel universes, intergalactic aliens and virtual realities. It’s hard to think of a show that combines science and comedy and good as “Rick and Morty” does, by being sometimes offensive, always educative and flawlessly animated. From childish humor (Morty’s school principal is called Principal Vagina), to science-based explanations (check the episode “A Rickle in Time” if you want to learn more about Schrödinger’s cat), the series seems to have found the recipe for success and is following it religiously.

Mr. Robot

Dark, smart and incredibly well constructed, “Mr. Robot” is amongst the best tv series of the decade, praised and awarded with multiple titles, including a Peabody Award, a Golden Globe for Best Television Drama Series and an Emmy Award for Rami Malek, for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.

The series follows Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer with a mind of a genius, suffering from a number of mental illnesses, including social anxiety, clinical depression and DID, which make things appear a tad bit different than they actually are. Elliot gets involved with a group of activists, all brilliant hackers, who aim to destroy E Corp, one of the biggest corporations in the world and clean American consumers’ debts.
