The Donnie Yen starring Ip Man series seemed to be done with the 2015 “Ip Man 3” which opened to lukewarm responses. But it would seem there is still life in the old beast after all, for the next entry in the franchise, the innovatively titled “Ip Man 4”, is gearing up for release. Donnie Yen swears this would be the last film in the series.
While a lot of the plot details are still under wraps, “Ip Man 4” sees the titular Wing Chun master arrive in San Francisco, United States where his most famous student, Bruce Lee, has upset the local martial arts community by opening a Wing Chun school.
Donnie Yen reprises his role as Ip Man and director Wilson Yip and writer Edmond Wong also return for the fourth film of the franchise. After Mike Tyson in the third film, this time it is English actor Scott Adkins who exchanges punches with Donnie Yen. Also co-starring Vanness Wu, Karena Ng and Danny Chan as Bruce Lee, the film releases December 20th, 2019.
