Earlier this year, superstar Song Kang-ho featured in “The King's Letter” as King Sejong, one of the key figures in South Korean royal history. Melodrama supremo Hur Jin-ho's latest film “Forbidden Dream” tells another story from the King's illustrious reign, with Han Suk-kyu taking on the role this time.
Synopsis
A film about the story of King Sejong and the engineer, scientist and inventor Jang Yeong-sil. A 20-year relationship exists between King Sejong and Jang Yeong-sil. They invent various devices for astronomical observation. Due to a case, Jang Yeong-sil is discharged from office and he disappears completely.
Hur Jin-ho returns to a historical piece after the success of 2016's “The Last Princess”. Superstar Choi Min-sik stars as Jang Yeong-sil opposite Han Suk-kyu's King Sejong. This will be the two stars' first collaboration 20 years after the landmark film “Shiri”. In addition, the film also features Heo Jun-ho (“Default“), Shin Goo (“Bluebeard“) and Kim Hong-pa (“The Beast“). It releases in South Korea in December, 2019.
