Florence Korea Film Festival’s Programme is Out

The Florence Korea Film Festival is back on the 19th of March 2020. Now in its 18th edition, it's a moment of well-deserved celebration and recognition for South Korean cinema which – as every year – is presented with the usual enthusiasm and pride.

Guest of honor is the star Cho Jin-woong, an extraordinary interpreter with one of the most formidable careers of his generation to his credit. From a terrible “bad guy” in numerous thriller films, in recent years he has explored more dramatic and intimate roles with unchanged talent. A retrospective and a master class will be dedicated to him. Cho Jin-woong is also the protagonist of the opening film “” by Master Chung Ji-young.

“Parasite” is scheduled as an event out of competition: an opportunity to watch, or watch again, on the big screen a film that has already entered the history of cinema.

The most successful films of the last few months at home are presented in our main section, Orizzonti (Horizons), while Independent introduces an overview of the most interesting works by emerging authors. This year there are two focuses: K-History dedicated to the history of the country and K-Doc with a selection of documentaries. Also meetings with young directors and their short films are confirmed, to which is added an incursion into the universe of Virtual Reality.

The Festival will close with the great return, after more than 10 years of absence from the big screen, of Lee Young-Ae – who was already protagonist of “Lady Vengeance” by Park Chan-wook – with the dramatic thriller “” by Kim Seung-woo.

About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
