Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name & Weathering With You Debut in Next Monthly Line-up For Screen Anime Online Film Festival

Anime Limited is delighted to announce the UK digital premiere of 's smash hit ““, which will headline the June line-up of their Screen Anime online anime film festival from 25th June 2020. With a curated theme of “extra-ordinary high school life”, “Weathering With You” will be joined by a showcase of the unique experiences that can unfold within one of anime's staple and most enduring settings.

Experience Makoto Shinkai's break-out hit with the body-swapping sensation “Your Name“, discover your voice with ““, an emotional drama from screenwriter Mari Okada (Maquia: When the Promised Flower Blooms),  or elope with the youthful summer of ““. Those wanting a more tranquil youth, however, can enrol in the rather more agricultural themed school of this month's bingeable TV series, the hilarious ““, based on the manga by Fullmetal Alchemist creator Hiromu Arakawa.

Following its premiere at Scotland Loves Anime 2019, fans expressed their desire to experience Weathering With You and back to back, and after successful double-bill screenings earlier this year, we're delighted to give you that same opportunity at home! You can also enjoy Weathering With You alongside the Screen Anime community, with a #ScreenAnimeParty Twitter watch-a-long on Thursday 2nd July at 7:30pm!

Weathering With You” established itself as a certified fan favourite following its limited theatrical release in January 2020, proving itself a worthy successor to the worldwide phenomenon “Your Name“, with both grossing over £550,000 each at the box office. Audiences being able to enjoy great anime films at home soon after theatrical release is a rare opportunity, and one of the guiding principles behind the Screen Anime film festival platform, which successfully launched in the UK & Ireland last month.

The Screen Anime June/July curated festival bill line-up will be available from 25th June until 25th July 2020. All titles will be available in Japanese with English subtitles, with Your Name and Fireworks also having English dubbed options.

About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
