Initially they perceived that it is a matter of 21 days, but they suffered a long-term lockdown and government apathy. They were not seeing any ray of hope. So the question is, how long should we keep our silence?

“Lunch” (Narrative Short Film, Republic of Korea)

Synopsis: Mother (JH) teaches her daughter(MJ) how to make kimchi stew. When her father(IW) comes home, her mother hides.

“Remedy” (Documentary Short, Turkey)

Synopsis: Alper, who has a hearing impairment and disfigurement, and his story of clinging to life with art.

Synopsis: Two women who I met again after 7 years! Can they be friends again?

“Wings of Eternity” (Experimental Short, Turkey)

Synopsis: A bird-killing hunter faces his regret. And in this confrontation, it turns into a bird. The hunter is purified by turning into a bird. Finally, mercy gives eternity to the hunter and humanity. Mercy can save humanity. In this film, people are birds. And birds are human. Birds and humans are of the same spirit. In this film, all people/humans are one soul.

“Mirrors of Time Civil War Cemeteries” (Experimental Short, Turkey)
Director: Süleyman Eskiocak

Synopsis: A soldier can protect himself against the enemy. But a soldier cannot protect himself against himself. And the soldier must make peace with himself. Make peace with yourself first. The world will surround you with love.

“Unique” (Student Short Film, Philippines)
Director: Rey Coloma


Synopsis:It was inspired by an online seller having a strong faith and a hopeless friend love story. Despite Mark’s problem, he was brave to face new life and motivated doing good things.

Ever since I watched Takeshi Kitano's "Hana-Bi" for the first time (and many times after that) I have been a cinephile. While much can be said about the technical aspects of film, coming from a small town in Germany, I cherish the notion of art showing its audience something which one does normally avoid, neglect or is unable to see for many different reasons. Often the stories told in films have helped me understand, discover and connect to something new which is a concept I would like to convey in the way I talk and write about films. Thus, I try to include some info on the background of each film as well as a short analysis (without spoilers, of course), an approach which should reflect the context of a work of art no matter what genre, director or cast. In the end, I hope to pass on my joy of watching film and talking about it.
