Trailer: Nothing Serious by Jeong Ga-Young

If there's two young actors in South Korea whose star keeps rising with each project, it is and . Son made his debut in the Jung Woo-sung starring “Scarlet Innocence” back in 2014 before disappearing for a while. It wasn't until after his bit-part in the Lana Wachowski Netflix drama “Sense8” that the man started appearing in many interesting projects both on the big and small screen, and also found time to direct a short film for the Busan debuted feature anthology “Unframed”.

Jeon Jong-seo, on the other hand, came out the gate running, with a star-making turn in Lee Chang-dong's “Burning” followed by an equally lauded performance in the thriller “The Call”, firmly establishing herself as a favourite among fans and critics alike. Just two films in, she's already also made her Hollywood debut with Ana Lily Amirpour's upcoming “Mona Lisa and the Blood Moon”, in which her performance has been appreciated by critics at film festivals.

it is thus with great anticipation that audiences are looking forward to “Perhaps Love”, a project that unites both Son Suk-ku and Jeon Jong-seo opposite each other.

Synopsis

Woo-ri is a 33-year-old single man. He is a rookie reporter and he writes a sex column, although he wants to become a novelist. He hates being lonely, but is not very good with romantic relationships.

Ja-young is a 29-year-old single woman. She has a daring personality and strives to become a mature 30-year-old woman, but she has experienced failures and is mired in debt. Her boyfriend dumps her after dating for only a month and she declares that she will not date anymore.

Woo-ri and Ja-young meet through a dating app.

For Son Suk-ku, this is familiar territory in an unfamiliar setting, for the actor has worked and impressed in the romance genre on the small screen with the Cha Tae-hyun/Bae Doona starring “Matrimonial Chaos”. This will, however, be the first time he tackles the genre on the big screen. For Jeon Jong-seo, this is uncharted waters and fans are looking forward to seeing her charming performance in a new genre. “Perhaps Love”, which previously had the unimaginative titled “Woo-ri and Ja-young”, is expected to release in South Korean cinemas in November, 2021.

Rhythm Zaveri

Hello, my name is Rhythm Zaveri. For as long as I can remember, I've been watching movies, but my introduction to Asian cinema was old rental VHS copies of Bruce Lee films and some Shaw Bros. martial arts extravaganzas. But my interest in the cinema of the region really deepened when I was at university and got access to a massive range of VHS and DVDs of classic Japanese and Chinese titles in the library, and there has been no turning back since.

An avid collector of physical media, I would say Korean cinema really is my first choice, but I'll watch anything that is south-east Asian. I started contributing to Asian Movie Pulse in 2018 to share my love for Asian cinema in the form of my writings.
