A Grim Reaper, Wang, grows close to a woman named Komachi and they begin an intimate relationship. He is supposed to escort her to hell. When Wang reveals his identity and purpose, Komachi lies about a pregnancy in order to escape her unfortunate destiny. She begs Wang to take a substitute and offers up her friend, who is also named Komachi and is of the same age. But then Wang genuinely falls in love with the other Komachi.
This film is directed by SONE Takeshi (Mystic Shrine Maiden, One Cut of the Dead as cinematographer) and stars Hanna CHAN, Eliz LAO, IZUMI Soko and HAMATSU Takayuki. It was entirely shot in Hong Kong. The original novel, Futari Komachi by AKUTAGAWA Ryonosuke, is regarded as a Japanese classic.
