Baku Madarame (Ryusei YOKOHAMA) is a mysterious genius gambler who is known as “Usogui” or “Lie Eater”, reflecting his ability to see through the lies of others. Kakerou, a powerful organisation with ties to Japanese political and business circles, runs an underground membership-based gambling club where lives are offered up as ante for a variety of twisted and deadly games. Baku is drawn into Kakerou's high stakes gamble, competing in a psychological battle for life and death against dangerous opponents.
This is a highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Toshio SAKO's original Usogui manga, which was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump from 2006 to 2017 with 8.8 million copies printed in 49 tankōbon volumes. Film production was announced back in 2016 as part of the manga's 10th anniversary project. Hideo NAKATA (The Ring series, Sadako) takes the helm as director and the cast also includes Kanata HONGŌ, Shohei MIURA, Mai SHIRAISHI and Hiroaki MURAKAMI. The Japanese premiere is scheduled for February 11, 2022.
