Sundance Film Festival Awards: Shaunak Sen’s “All That Breathes” takes home Grand Jury Prize – World Cinema Documentary

This year's featured 84 feature films, 59 short films, and 26 jury-awarded prizes — with at least 7 of them distributed to Asian productions. Unsurprisingly, most of the Asian award winners revolved around tales of precarity. 's Delhi-based ecology-conscious film “” won a Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Documentary category. 's on-the-ground documentary about Rohingya discrimination in the Rakhine State, “” won the World Cinema Documentary Special Jury Award: Excellence in Verite Filmmaking. 's Ukraine-Turkey co-production about a family living along the precarious Ukraine-Russian border, “”, took home the Directing Award: World Cinema Dramatic.

Several dramatic films took their pickings, too. Philippines-based 's love letter to cinema, “,” also was selected for the World Cinema Dramatic Special Jury Award: Innovative Spirit. Shorts “” () and “” () likewise swept the shorts fiction awards, winning in Animation and International Fiction respectively.

Diaspora cinema did remarkably well as well. The Japan-based “blood” walked away with the US Dramatic Special Jury Award: Uncompromising Artistic Vision. “” was presented with the 2022 Alfred P. Sloan Feature Film Prize and a $20,000 cash award. Su Kim snapped up the Sundance Institute | Amazon Studios Producers Award for Nonfiction for “.”

But without further ado, the full list of awards:
