Trailer: Breaking Through by Wang Fangfang

In 1980, the Chinese delegation began participating in the Winter Olympics, but they repeatedly missed out on a gold medal. Failure and resentment stabbed at the hearts of the Chinese people like a needle. In order to achieve a breakthrough, Qin Shan formed the Chinese short track speed skating national team with Yang Fan as the main representative. Together they realise they are on the verge of a gold medal, but the relationship between master and disciple faces a fierce collision and a heavy test. (Source: Far East Films)

This sports drama is inspired by real-life stories of China's athletes as they struggle to compete in the Winter Olympics. Directed and co-written by , the film stars Meng Meiqi, Xia Yu, Sa Rina, Pei Kuishan and Jiao Gang. It is the third instalment of the “Chinese Olympic Sports Film Trilogy” that also includes The One Man Olympics (2008) and Champion (2012).

Theatrical release in China is scheduled for February 25, 2022.
