Udine Far East Film Festival Opens with China-Italy Co-production “The Italian Recipe”,and Closes with a South Korean Thriller “Confession”

22/30 April 202 2 - Udine, Italy - Teatro Nuovo e Visionario

On Friday 22 April the awaited world premiere of “”, directed by director and shot in Rome, will officially open the Far East Film Festival 24th edition. An irresistible Chinese romantic comedy that, after the FEFF, will be released at home in thousands of cinemas, bringing with it a lot of Italy: the locations, the crew and, the co-production. In fact, alongside China we find Cristiano Bortone's Orisa Produzioni and Roberta Manfredi and Alberto Simone's Dauphine Film Company, with Rai Cinema and with the support of the Lazio Region, Fondo Lazio Cinema International and the support of Roma Lazio Film Commission (and Lightburst Pictures in Berlin). Liu Xun and Huang Yao (applauded at FEFF 19 for “The Crossing”) give life to a brilliant pair game and give us a very contemporary variation on the theme of Roman Holidays!

The chosen title for the Closing Night on Saturday 30 April is quite different: we are talking about the splendid South Korean thriller “” by , one of the most powerful films of the 2022 line-up. It is the remake of the 2016 Spanish mystery thriller “Contrattempo”, but before South Korea the screenplay also hit Italy (Stefano Mordini's “l testimone invisibile”, with Scamarcio, Bentivoglio and Miriam Leone) and India. A precious series of artistic and geographical connections for a festival, the FEFF, which thrives on connections!

About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
