Trailer: Decision to Leave by Park Chan-wook

's much-talked-about ”melodrama” is finally upon us. When first announced, the project was called a melodrama but has since progressed to being a thriller/mystery. Of course, since this is Park we're taking about, the term ”melodrama” should be used very lightly. The feature premieres in competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival later this month.

Synopsis

Hae-joon works as a detective. He is polite to others, but passionate when investigating cases. He begins an investigation into an unnatural death case that took place on a mountain. While investigating the case, Hae-joon meets Seo-rae. She is the former wife of the deceased man. Hae-joon is suspicious of her, but he also becomes interested in her.

” stars and in the leading roles of Hae-joon and Seo-rae respectively. Lee Jung-hyun, , and also co-star. After its Cannes premiere, it is scheduled for a June, 2022 release in Korea and other territories, with a MUBI exclusive streaming release also confirmed for later this year.
