We Have a New Logo

After many years that we went with the dragon, it was about time for a change, one that would also signify how the website has transformed through the years, and particularly its opening to as many countries, and as many genres of Asian cinema as possible. The versions we considered were 5 actually, but in the end we went with a variation of what we have previously used in the now defunct Asian Film Vault. The new logo is evidently more minimal, but at the same time, more modern, while the combination of a symbol that looks like an ideogram and a camera highlights the fact that we are dealing with Asia and cinema. Also evidently, and despite our efforts to find something that represents the whole of the continent, the focus on the South East and particularly in Japan, as indicated by the red dot, is quite visible, in an aspect though, that in the end represents where most of us started dealing with the particularly cinema from. Lastly, the slightly “roughed up” fonts was my personal choice, probably because I have a soft spot for punk/garage music and this kind of lettering reminds me of it. Hope you like it. Special thanks to Nikos Kleisiaris of Silly Rabbit Creative for dealing with the whole thing.

Panos Kotzathanasis

My name is Panos Kotzathanasis and I am Greek. Being a fan of Asian cinema and especially of Chinese kung fu and Japanese samurai movies since I was a little kid, I cultivated that love during my adolescence, to extend to the whole of SE Asia.

Starting from my own blog in Greek, I then moved on to write for some of the major publications in Greece, and in a number of websites dealing with (Asian) cinema, such as Taste of Cinema, Hancinema, EasternKicks, Chinese Policy Institute, and of course, Asian Movie Pulse. in which I still continue to contribute.

In the beginning of 2017, I launched my own website, Asian Film Vault, which I merged in 2018 with Asian Movie Pulse, creating the most complete website about the Asian movie industry, as it deals with almost every country from East and South Asia, and definitely all genres.

You can follow me on Facebook and Twitter.

  • I love it! Very ingenious interplay between looking like an Asian symbol yet clearly depicting a film camera.
