The live action adaptation of the wildly popular manga series Gintama is officially set to release in the US on Blu-ray and DVD on March 6, 2018. Well Go USA has confirmed that they plan on releasing the film in North America on DVD, Blu-ray, a DVD combo pack, as well as on Digital HD.

The film, produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, premiered in July, 2017 in Japan, and went on to make 980 million yen in the first four days of its theatrical run. The popularity of the series was also the impetus for a live-action web series that launched on Docomo’s official streaming service, dTV, on July 15. The film adaptation made its Western debut at Canada’s Fantasia Film Festival, and is expected to grace screens across the US, Germany, Spain, as well as Central and South America.

Based on the manga series, written and illustrated by Hideaki Sorachi, the movie is set in Japan during the Edo period, but with a twist: aliens known as Amanto invade and take over the world by means of turning the Shogunate into their puppet. The story follows Gintoki, a samurai for hire, with the rest of his friends, who band together to try to save the world.

Look for Gintama on Blu-ray and DVD this spring!
