4. Two Faces of My Girlfriend (2007)

This movie featuresBong Tae-gyu who plays Gu-chang and Jung Ryeo-won plays the role of his love interest with multiple personalities. Gu-change is an almost-30-year-old virgin who’s never kissed a girl, let alone have a girlfriend.

One fateful day, he finds a wallet in the dining hall and returns it to the owner – a lovely young woman by the name of Ani. Just as the begin to date, he learns of the other side of Ani. Unlike Ani, Hani is an aggressive drunkard with a foul mouth.

3. Be With You (2018)

This movie is romantic, yes, but it’s also a tear-jerker. Son Ye-jim plays Soo-ah, a young woman who makes a vow to her husband, Woo-jin who’s played by So Ji-Sub. Before her death, Soo-ah promises to return to her family in exactly one year.

You know what? She does exactly that! One year after her passing, she comes back from the dead and appears before her son and husband. While this reunion may seem like a miracle, destiny is cruel because she has no memory of her family… It gets worse – Soo-ah cannot stay with her family and has to leave them once more.

2. The Eel (1997)

Although this movie is more than two decades old, it’s still one of our favorites. In this, Kōji Yakusho plays the role of Takuro Yamashita who finds his wife in bed with another man and murders her. After the murder, he turns himself to the police and is sent to prison. Upon his release, he becomes incredibly attached to a pet eel.

Anyway… Takuro meets a young woman by the name of Keiko Hattori, played by Misa Shimizu, and saves her from a suicide attempt. As a result of this, he invites her to work in his barbershop and she begins to fall in love with him. When Takuro comes across a man he knew from prison, the guy starts stalking Takuro and Keiko, whom he attempts to rape.

This movie drama is full of suspense and romantic drama that’ll be sure to keep you riveted to the story.

1. Architecture 101 (2012)

Unlike our previous entries, this movie has a bit of The Notebook feel and we dig it. Uhm Tae Woong plays Lee Seung-min, an architect in modern day Seoul. One day he’s approached by an old college friend, Yang Seo-yeon (played by Han Ga-in) who asks him to design a new home on her family’s plat of land on Jeju Island.

As time goes by, Lee Seung-min learns more about the trials and tribulations his former love endured. Like The Notebook, promises were made and a sentimental token (in this case a CD) serves as a bitter-sweet reminder of the love the pair once shared.

If you loved The Notebook, we’re certain you’ll find the same enjoyment in this film.
