A new TV series for HBO has been announced, helmed by Eric Khoo. The series contains 8 segments from different Asian directors including: Malaysian Ho Yuhang (“Toyol“, “Mrs. K“), Filipino Erik Matti (“On The Job“, “BuybBust“) , Thai Pen Ek Ratanaruang, (“Samui Song“, “POB“) Vietnemese Phan Dag Di, Japanese Takumi Saitoh (Blank 13, Tatami), Indonesian Billy Christian (“Those Who Are Not Seen“) and Singaporeans Don Aravind and Eric Khoo. Each segment is centralized around the theme of food and its influence within the culture of each country.
According to HBO Asia, the series “explores the human condition with narratives inspired by and showcased through the perspectives of Asian cuisines, weaving tales of the tastes and aromas that have filled the Asian souls – tales of longing and forbidden passion, of connection and loss, of childhood memory”
The series premieres November 3 on HBO Go and HBO. A trailer for the production has been made available and can be viewed below.
