Oscar winning music director AR Rahman joins US-set film No Land’s Man

Double Oscar winning music director has taken up his next US project “”, directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, as a music director and co-producer. This is going to be his first engagement as a co-producer in a US independent film. 

This predominantly English language film stars Indian star Nawazuddin Siddiqui alongside Australian actor Megan Mitchell and Bangladeshi actor Tahsan Khan. 

AR Rahman on why he decided to come on board as both co-producer and Music Director: “Time always gives birth to new worlds, new ideals. The newborn world has new challenges and new stories to tell. This is one such story!”

Besides starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui is also producing the film alongside Spirit awards winning US producer Shrihari Sathe, Anjan Chowdhury from Bangladeshi conglomerate Square Group, Bongo BD, filmmaker Mostofa Sarwar Farooki and Bangladeshi actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha. 

Welcoming A.R. Rahman on board, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said: “We are very honoured to have an artist of his stature with us. Not only as music director but also as co-producer, he is going to make this film richer in every sense” 

AR Rahman previously won two Oscars for “Slumdog Millionaire” and was nominated for two more Oscars for the film 127 hours. He also has been a leading music director, music producer, and singer in India for decades now. 

This US-India-Bangladesh co-production No Land's Man went to floor last year's November with production spread in three different continents North America, Australia, and Asia. Filming started in New York where seventy percent of the film is based. After one month of filming, the team flew to Sydney. The Sydney shoot lasted for about ten days before the team moved to India for its final leg of filming. After about seven days of filming in Lucknow and Mumbai, the team wrapped principal photography. Sheikh Rajibul Islam (“No Bed of Roses”) and Alexei Kosurokov were responsible for cinematography. 

Speaking about the filming experience, Nawazuddin Siddiqui mentioned: “The filming experience for this project was challenging but a fulfilling one. From zero degree to forty degree Celsius, we had to brave the challenges thrown by the engrossing script as well as a varying in temperature in three different continents!”

The film is in the editing stage now and expected to be ready by the end of this year. “No Land's Man” won Motion Picture Association-APSA film fund, best project award in Film Bazaar India and got selected as an official project for Asian Project Market of Busan.
