Korean superstar Song Kang-ho has confirmed that his next project will be “Cobweb”, the first new film he has signed since the historic awards run of Bong Joon-ho's “Parasite” earlier this year, wherein he was also felicitated for his work with the Best Ensemble Award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The film will mark the return of indie filmmaker Shin Yeon-shick.
This commercial project will have an experimental form, as it will combine black and white and color elements within the same frame. In addition, the whole production will take place on sound stages.
Shin Yeon-shick has been prominent on the indie film scene since his debut feature “The Fair Love” and is known for films he directed from his own literary scripts, such as “The Russian Novel”, “Rough Play” and the Jeonju Cinema Project “The Avian Kind”. He also wrote and produced Lee Joon-ik's biographical film “Dongju: The Portrait of a Poet“.
Song, meanwhile, is currently on set shooting the aviation disaster film “Emergency Declaration” alongside Lee Byung-hun and Jeon Do-yeon, a project that was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic and is now targeting an early 2021 release.
“Cobweb” is expected to go on the floor in Winter, 2020 once Song finishes work on “Emergency Declaration”.
