The First All Asian Independent Film Festival to Take Place On The 18th – 22nd November, 2020

The All (AAIFF), is dedicated to supporting independent filmmakers throughout Asia and helping them find audiences for their unique cinematic talents. Festivals like AAIFF have direct impact on filmmakers careers and help bring global recognition to the inspiring storytellers of our generation. The festival will screen 32 films that are in competition for 8 awards, including “Asia's Best Independent Film 2020”.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, The All Asian Independent Film Festival is moving online and will be screened on secure online platforms for 2 hours every night starting at 8pm Manila time (GMT+8) between 18th and 22nd November, 2020. At the end of the screening sessions there will be a Question and Answer session with the filmmakers in competition.

“Independent filmmaking remains strong and unstoppable – even in this tremendously difficult circumstances – and we are honoured to be able to bring audiences films from some of the most talented indie filmmakers from the Asia-Pacific region.” Says festival President, award-winning film director Scott Hillier. “Even with no borders to cross, or passports to show, this year's AAIFF films will take the festival's audiences on a great cinematic journey.”

Tickets cost $15 USD and include access to all of the 32 films that take place over the 5 days of the festival. Check out the full programme, films and get tickets on aaifilmfestival.com

Once the health situation allows travel, the festival will be having a screening in the Power Plant Cinema in Manila, the Philippines.

About the author

Rouven Linnarz

Ever since I watched Takeshi Kitano's "Hana-Bi" for the first time (and many times after that) I have been a cinephile. While much can be said about the technical aspects of film, coming from a small town in Germany, I cherish the notion of art showing its audience something which one does normally avoid, neglect or is unable to see for many different reasons. Often the stories told in films have helped me understand, discover and connect to something new which is a concept I would like to convey in the way I talk and write about films. Thus, I try to include some info on the background of each film as well as a short analysis (without spoilers, of course), an approach which should reflect the context of a work of art no matter what genre, director or cast. In the end, I hope to pass on my joy of watching film and talking about it.
