Dante Lam’s THE RESCUE Coming to US Theatres December 18th

THE RESCUE is the first film to showcase the China Rescue & Salvage (CRS), a lesser-known division of the Chinese Coast Guard. Founded in 1951, the unit is charged with responding to all maritime emergencies on Chinese waters, which range from shipwreck salvage missions to marine firefighting.

The film will hit theaters across the US December 18.

Boasting one of the biggest budgets ever for a Chinese film at $100 million, the stunt- and pyrotechnic-filled spectacle features an A-list Hollywood production team that includes Academy Award-winning cinematographer Peter Pau (“Crouching Tiger”, “Hidden Dragon”, “The Forbidden Kingdom”), production designer Martin Laing (“Titanic”, “Clash of the Titans”) and special effects supervisor John Frazier (“Spider-Man”, “Transformers”). The film also stars major Chinese and Taiwanese talent, including (“The Great Wall”), , , and (“Pacific Rim Uprising”).

Rhythm Zaveri

Hello, my name is Rhythm Zaveri. For as long as I can remember, I've been watching movies, but my introduction to Asian cinema was old rental VHS copies of Bruce Lee films and some Shaw Bros. martial arts extravaganzas. But my interest in the cinema of the region really deepened when I was at university and got access to a massive range of VHS and DVDs of classic Japanese and Chinese titles in the library, and there has been no turning back since.

An avid collector of physical media, I would say Korean cinema really is my first choice, but I'll watch anything that is south-east Asian. I started contributing to Asian Movie Pulse in 2018 to share my love for Asian cinema in the form of my writings.
