The Most Effective Way of Taking CBD Oil

There are many ways to take CBD. Many people buy CBD and other cannabis products but don’t understand that different types of administration methods produce various results. We believe that the most effective way of taking CBD oil is by using CBD oil drops correctly. Taking edibles, CBD tablets, topicals, or smoking CBD will get the job done but not as efficient as CBD oil taken sublingually.

What Form of CBD is Most Effective?

Different types of CBD administration:

  • Edible CBD: Anything you are eating that is infused with CBD. This includes CBD pills and CBD tablets because you are sending them to through the digestive system
  • CBD Oil: hemp extract that is suspended in a carrier oil
  • Topical CBD: Creams, lotions, and balms usually used for pain relief. Any skin care product that is absorbed through the skin is considered a topical
  • Smoking or vaping: Smokable flower and CBD oil that is vaporized

There is a reason, supported in biochemistry, for CBD oil’s superiority over other administration methods. However, it must be done in the correct way. CBD oil that is swallowed is not as efficient as if it were absorbed into the blood stream. This is done by the mucosal glands in the mouth.

This type of administration delivers a relatively high bioavailability. We don’t have the research to know the exact number, experts suspect that around 50% of the CBD will be available to use when using CBD oil correctly. The Dictionary.com definition of bioavailability is the proportion of a drug or other substance which enters the circulation when introduced into the body and so is able to have an active effect.

CBD Absorption

Edible CBD has a low bioavailability because little or none of the CBD is absorbed into the bloodstream. The stomach takes a long time to make the CBD available and wastes almost all of the precious cannabinoid.

If your goal is to absorb as much CBD as possible at all costs, then vaping or smoking high CBD content flower is for you. These methods deliver almost 100% bioavailability. However, I do find it unethical to suggest people put hot smoke into their lungs. Obviously more problems can occur when you are smoking. Vaping raises a number of other risks. Some companies have been caught with dangerous heavy metals in their vape liquid. Because vaping is so new, we don’t have the data to understand what happens to these people after smoking a vape every day for decades.

CBD oil falls in-between these two administration methods. It is safe and efficient to take CBD oil drops.

How to Take CBD Oil?

Swallowing CBD oil defeats the purpose of CBD oil. To properly take CBD oil, it needs to spend as much time in your mouth as possible. Let your dose absorb under your tongue for at least 20 seconds before swallowing. Avoiding CBD sent through the digestive tract is the goal here.

If you are taking CBD oil for the first time, start with a low dose. There’s no reason to take an entire bottle of CBD the first day you buy it. Take 10-15mg to start with and go from there. Many studies suggest that taking more CBD won’t give you more benefits, but additional research is needed to be sure.

We recommend taking CBD oil drops because you are able to administer the CBD sublingually. This allows the CBD to be absorbed into the blood stream and distributed around the body. CBD has many potential benefits, but you must understand the different administration methods and use them correctly to take advantage of CBD.
