Mayuko Hitotsuyanagi, better known by her stage name Cuushe, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer of the Japanese Dream Pop scene. She is from Kyoto and based in Tokyo. One half of the duo Neon Cloud along with Geskia, Cushee has also an amazing catalog of solo work, like 2020’s “Magic”.
Director and film maker Tao Tajima of the Tokyo visual design studio Tangram is behind the beautiful video in which he matches the visual footage he took when he was traveling in Tibet with artist Yoko Kuno‘s ethereal animation.
In an interview with Dennis Martin on Trend & Chaos, Cuushe said:
“The lyrics were inspired by a love affair of my friend, but I think there are things that everyone is trapped in, such as human relationships, places to live and values, various things that could be good or bad. I’m writing about the hope that you can always break that trap or escape from them by raising your voice”.
