Song Kang-ho and Kim Jee-woon to reteam for Cobweb

and will be joining hands for the fifth time for the upcoming project “”. The two powerhouses have previously worked together on “The Quiet Family”, “The Foul King”, “The Good, The Bad, The Weird” and “The Age of Shadows”. This will also be the first project for Song and Kim's production company Anthology Studios.

“Cobweb” was in fact the first project signed by Song Kang-ho following “Parasite”. It is written by indie director/writer , who was initially attached to direct as well. However, financing difficulties meant that the project was put on hold and both the actor and Shin went on to work on “One Win” instead, which is currently in post-production. Song also finished work on Hirokazu Koreeda's “Broker” in the meantime.

Choi Jae-won, veteran producer and Song and Kim's partner on Anthology Studios, brought the script to Kim Jee-woon's attention, who saw potential in it and agreed to direct it after finishing work on the Apple TV+ series “Dr. Brain”. “Cobweb” is said to have an experimental approach. It will have a film-within-a-film concept and will be shot exclusively on sound stages.

The feature is aiming for a production start early next year. Casting will shortly be underway.

Rhythm Zaveri

Hello, my name is Rhythm Zaveri. For as long as I can remember, I've been watching movies, but my introduction to Asian cinema was old rental VHS copies of Bruce Lee films and some Shaw Bros. martial arts extravaganzas. But my interest in the cinema of the region really deepened when I was at university and got access to a massive range of VHS and DVDs of classic Japanese and Chinese titles in the library, and there has been no turning back since.

An avid collector of physical media, I would say Korean cinema really is my first choice, but I'll watch anything that is south-east Asian. I started contributing to Asian Movie Pulse in 2018 to share my love for Asian cinema in the form of my writings.
