Japan's post-apocalyptic wasteland replete with dust can only be saved by one thing – fungus. Bisco Akaboshi is a wanted criminal and skilled archer. He searches for a legendary mushroom, known as Sabikui, rumoured to devour any and all rust. Joining him on this epic saga to save the country is a giant crab and a young doctor, Milo Nekoyanagi. Can this unlikely trio find the fabled fungi and save the land?
This anime is an adaptation of the adventure fantasy light novel series, Sabikui Bisco (Rust-eater Bisco), written by Shinji Cobkubo with illustrations by K Akagishi and mocha. The series was first published in 2018 and is currently ongoing with seven volumes released as of March 10, 2021.
Animation production is by Studio OZ with staff from ID: Invaded including Atsushi Ikariya as director and Daisuke Mataga as assistant director, as well as Sadayuki Murai (Knights of Sidonia) as series composer and scriptwriter. Funimation will stream this anime premiering on January 10, 2022.
