One rainy night, a baby is left at the baby box facility. Sang-hyun (Song Kang-ho) and Dong-soo (Kang Dong-won) secretly take him home. However, the next day, So-young (Lee Ji-eun, also known by her stage name IU) unexpectedly returns, looking for her baby Woo-sung. She decides to call the police when she finds out that her boy is missing. The two men's explanation that they took him to find suitable parents willing to adopt him is hard to believe, but with nowhere left to go, she decides to join their mission to find new parents for her boy. Meanwhile, police detective Su-jin (Bae Doona) and her subordinate Detective Lee (Lee Joo-young) have been investigating the case for the past 6 months, waiting for the decisive moment when they can catch the duo in the act. Written, edited and directed by Japanese auteur Hirokazu KORE-EDA (winner of 2018's Palme d'Or for Shoplifters) and featuring an all-star Korean cast, Broker premiered in competition at this year's Cannes Film Festival on May 26. It is scheduled for release in South Korea on June 8 and in Japan on June 24, with CJ ENM confirming sales to 171 countries.
