“Ring Wandering” screened on Fantasia International Film Festival

What drew you in the role of Sosuke? How would you describe Sosuke as a person?

He seemed very proud and confident in his own work. But at the same time, he seemed unsure and lost. I thought he was like me,

Do you read manga yourself?

Of course I love Manga. For example, I love “ONE PIECE”, “Vagabond”, “Attack on Titan” and “Eyeshield 21”.

In general, what do you look for in the roles you pick?

I like roles with two sides.

How was your cooperation with Masakazu Kaneko and Junko Abe?

They were very kind and serious in their attitude towards me. I thank them for that.

What is the part of your performance that you like the most and what the least?

I don't remember any plays I have done in the past. I am always frightened of future plays.

This year, you played one of the main roles in Tokyo Vice. How was the experience of working on an HBO show, with American co-stars and an American director? Is it much different than working with a full Japanese crew?

Both are very wonderful and completely different. But the fact remains that perfect preparation is necessary.

You have been in the industry for almost ten years now, but for the first years, the roles you had were mostly secondary ones. What do you think changed and now you are getting protagonist roles? In what ways do you feel you have improved through the years?

Nothing has changed about myself. It's just that the people around me have changed.

Are you working on any new projects?

I want to do a lot of work. So the answer is yes.

Panos Kotzathanasis

My name is Panos Kotzathanasis and I am Greek. Being a fan of Asian cinema and especially of Chinese kung fu and Japanese samurai movies since I was a little kid, I cultivated that love during my adolescence, to extend to the whole of SE Asia.

Starting from my own blog in Greek, I then moved on to write for some of the major publications in Greece, and in a number of websites dealing with (Asian) cinema, such as Taste of Cinema, Hancinema, EasternKicks, Chinese Policy Institute, and of course, Asian Movie Pulse. in which I still continue to contribute.

In the beginning of 2017, I launched my own website, Asian Film Vault, which I merged in 2018 with Asian Movie Pulse, creating the most complete website about the Asian movie industry, as it deals with almost every country from East and South Asia, and definitely all genres.
