Lots of Asian Titles in the line-up of the 7th Life After Oil International Film Festival 2020

Problems related to the use of fossil fuels and possible alternatives. Denounces against all types of exploitation and the stories of hope for a fairer world. LIFE AFTER OIL, the only film festival in Sardinia that specifically deals with issues relating to the environment and human rights at an international level, is back. Now in its 7th edition, the event conceived and directed by Massimiliano Mazzotta has increasingly become an important opportunity of dialogue for filmmakers, activists, and associations of various nationalities that want to discuss energy issues and the search for a more sustainable lifestyle that is right for everyone.

By complying with all the safety measures necessary for the health emergency due to Coronavirus, the 2020 festival will take place in Ottana, from September 3rd to 5th, and in Santa Teresa Gallura, from September 8th to 13th. Sardinia, Italy

A total of 1212 works have been submitted, almost twice as many as last year, a demonstration of the growth of the Festival. Growth certified also by its increasingly international character. In fact, 95 different countries are represented between all the films submitted. The Festival commission admitted to the competition 97 films between feature films and shorts movies of various genres (documentaries, fiction, animated works). Of these, 33 are first works, confirming how much Life After Oil continues to take into consideration and promote young directors and not just the best known and most successful authors.

About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
