SAKKA Celebrates Its 1st anniversary With Special Thank-you Gift Campaigns

Happy Birthday, SAKKA!

US-based Japanese film distribution hub marks its 1st anniversary today, and they are celebrating with exclusive gift campaigns as a gesture of gratitude to the community. Since its launch in May of last year, SAKKA has distributed nine award-winning Japanese films to an international audience along with the directors' voices and exclusive content.

“While there are many more emerging voices and films yet to be liberated, our priority for the first year was to approach this endeavour with sincerity, respect, and love for cinema,” explains Chiaki Yanagimoto, founder of SAKKA. “At the center of our every step is the filmmakers and the film community around the globe. We want to extend our deepest gratitude and appreciation to everyone who believed in us and has supported our vision to bring more Japanese films and filmmakers to the world. To those who came and watched the films on SAKKA, explored bonus content, told friends about it, and even sent messages to the directors, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

To express their appreciation and give back to the fans, SAKKA is organizing exclusive gift giveaways and engaging with followers and film communities on social media. For complete details, visit their official Twitter account HERE, or their website HERE .

Yanagimoto shares that her team is tirelessly working not only on film releases but also on developing exciting ideas to promote Japanese filmmakers and foster connections within the film community. She anticipates the platform's second year will bring more titles and events. “We look forward to bringing more award-winning Japanese films to you, and playing a small part in connecting the world through films.”

SAKKA revealed in their latest newsletter their plans for two new releases this summer, each accompanied by multiple bonus contents and exclusive interviews with the directors.

About the author

Adriana Rosati

On paper I am an Italian living in London, in reality I was born and bread in a popcorn bucket. I've loved cinema since I was a little child and I’ve always had a passion and interest for Asian (especially Japanese) pop culture, food and traditions, but on the cinema side, my big, first love is Hong Kong Cinema. Then - by a sort of osmosis - I have expanded my love and appreciation to the cinematography of other Asian countries. I like action, heroic bloodshed, wu-xia, Shaw Bros (even if it’s not my specialty), Anime, and also more auteur-ish movies. Anything that is good, really, but I am allergic to rom-com (unless it’s a HK rom-com, possibly featuring Andy Lau in his 20s)"
