Send Your Short Film at Kutaisi International Short Film Festival

The started in May 2021 despite the challenges of Covid-19. It quickly gained recognition in Georgia's film industry. The following year, in 2022, it grew even bigger, featuring competitions, retrospectives, and an international jury that made it known worldwide.

In 2022, the festival showcased 30 films competing in documentary and fiction categories. Alongside these, there were special programs like the Jonas Mekas 100 retrospective, a focus on Georgian shorts, Ukrainian shorts, and even films from the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen.

By its third edition, the Kutaisi International Short Film Festival was widely regarded as Georgia's premier film event. It featured retrospectives on Czech New Wave, Chantal Akerman, and Mikheil Kalatozov, along with premieres of new Georgian documentaries, making it a significant cultural happening.

Now, the leading short film festival in the region is calling for submissions. The 4th edition will take place from October 4-10, offering various activities like lectures, masterclasses, and workshops to support filmmakers' growth. Additionally, there will be concerts and outdoor screenings to create an exciting atmosphere for attendees and the Kutaisi community.

The festival also takes advantage of Kutaisi's rich history and culture, adding a unique touch to its lineup. By bringing cinema back to the city, it aims to revitalize cultural life and encourage creative expression.

Rules and terms:

By submitting your film, you agree that Kutaisi International Short Film Festival can use parts of your film (including trailer/teaser/film poster) for promotional purposes.

To submit a film, you must have created the project yourself, own the rights, or have permission from the owner of the content to submit the film to us.

PLEASE READ THE RULES BELOW THOROUGHLY BEFORE SUBMITTING:

1. All entries must come with English subtitles.

2. No animations.

3. All entries must have been completed AFTER July 1, 2023.

4. You must own or be given all rights to anything you submit to the festival.

5. The submitting materials length for both Short Fiction and Short Documentary films is 10 to 35 minutes.

6. Selected films will be announced on August 15, and submitters will be notified.

Kutaisi International Short Film Festival AWARDS will review films in their entirety. Films will be watched and reviewed by members of the Selection Committee: a professional group of filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and critics. Films are scored accordingly.

Please also note that the fee paid for submitting the film to the Festival does not guarantee its selection. The fee is non-refundable if the film is not selected.

For as long as I can remember, I've been watching movies, but my introduction to Asian cinema was old rental VHS copies of Bruce Lee films and some Shaw Bros. martial arts extravaganzas.
